If you’re searching for ceramic coating near Lake Wylie, here is what you need to know. My Detail Buddy applies System X ceramic coating in four packages, with warranty terms of 2, 6 or 10 years depending on the package. The prices are below, along with what a coating does and doesn’t do, so you can decide whether it fits your vehicle.
What ceramic coating actually is
A ceramic coating is a liquid layer applied to clean, prepared paint. It bonds to the surface and forms a hard, slick protective skin on top of it. Here is what that means for you:
- Paint is easier to wash, because dirt and road film don’t cling as tightly.
- Gloss and depth are easier to maintain.
- Paint gets a layer of protection against everyday contamination such as bird droppings, bug residue and water spots.
Here is what it does not do:
- It does not make paint scratch-proof.
- It does not stop rock chips or door dings.
- It does not replace washing. A coated car still needs regular, careful washes.
A good installer will say this plainly before you pay.
Why prep matters more than the product
The coating only bonds to what’s underneath it. If the paint has swirls, light scratches or bonded contamination, the coating will lock those in and make them look glossier. That’s why a proper coating job starts with a thorough wash, decontamination, and any paint correction the car needs.
How much correction your paint needs depends on its condition. Any correction beyond the coating package itself is a get a quote item, since it varies by vehicle. Samuel will look at your paint and tell you honestly what it needs.
System X packages and pricing
My Detail Buddy offers four System X packages. The term is how long the package-specific warranty runs.
Crystal+ (2-year term): $810
The entry package. It’s a good fit if you want real paint protection at the lowest price in the lineup, or if you’re newer to coatings and want to see how you like it.
Pro+ (6-year term): $1,250
A step up in protection term. It suits owners who plan to keep the vehicle for several years and want a longer warranty term.
Max G+ (10-year term): $1,500
The longest warranty term in the lineup, and it includes a free Glass+ windshield coating. If you want the 10-year term in a gloss finish, this is the package to ask about.
Max MF matte (10-year term): $1,500
Built for matte and satin finishes. Matte paint needs different care than gloss paint, so if your vehicle has a matte finish, this is the one to choose.
Warranty terms are specific to each package. Ask for the written terms for the package you choose before you book, so you know exactly what’s covered.
October 2026 fall special
For October 2026, My Detail Buddy has a Pre-Winter Protection special that includes the 2-year System X ceramic coating. It’s priced by vehicle size at $749, $799 or $899. It’s a seasonal offer, so ask whether it’s still available when you get in touch.
How mobile service works
My Detail Buddy is mobile, so the work happens at your home or workplace. For mobile service, the customer provides the water and power. A coating job takes real time, so plan for the vehicle to be parked and accessible, ideally in a garage or shaded spot with space to work around all sides.
My Detail Buddy serves Waxhaw, Marvin, Weddington, Wesley Chapel, Ballantyne, Myers Park, SouthPark and Mt. Holly. Lake Wylie isn’t on that listed service area, so if you’re in Lake Wylie, ask before assuming we can come to you.
Is ceramic coating worth it for your car?
It tends to make the most sense if:
- You keep your vehicle for years and want to protect its appearance.
- You’re tired of waxing and want paint that’s simpler to keep clean.
- Your car sits outside in the Carolina sun, pollen and summer storms.
- You’ve just bought a new vehicle and want protection from the start.
It may not be the right call if:
- The paint has heavy damage or failing clear coat. Coating won’t fix that, and the vehicle may need other work first.
- You’re looking to sell soon and just want it to look good. A detail may serve you better.
If you’re unsure, ask. An honest answer beats a sale that doesn’t fit.
Caring for a coated vehicle
A coating makes upkeep easier, but it isn’t hands-off.
- Wash with a pH-balanced car shampoo and clean wash mitts, not automatic brush washes.
- Dry with clean microfiber towels to avoid water spots.
- Follow the care instructions you’re given right after the coating is applied, including any waiting period before the first wash.
- Keep up with maintenance. A regular maintenance wash can help the coating and paint look their best, and My Detail Buddy offers maintenance memberships starting at $49.99/mo for exterior care.
Booking your coating
New bookings made on or after October 1, 2026 require a deposit of 20% of the service price. The deposit is non-refundable, carries over if you need to reschedule, and is deducted from your total.
To get started, request a quote with your vehicle details: make, model, year, finish (gloss or matte) and where it’s parked. Samuel will recommend a package that fits the vehicle and how you use it, and he will tell you if the paint needs correction first.
