Ceramic Coating Charlotte NC

If you live in Charlotte and want real, long-term protection for your paint, My Detail Buddy applies System X ceramic coatings at your home or office. You don’t drop the car off or arrange a ride. Samuel, the owner, comes to you, prepares the paint, and applies the coating you choose in a 2, 6 or 10 year term.

This page covers who ceramic coating is for, what the process involves, what each package costs, how a mobile appointment works, and how to book.

What a Ceramic Coating Is

A ceramic coating is a liquid layer applied to your car’s clear coat that cures into a hard, slick, protective surface. It isn’t wax or a sealant that wears off in a few months. The coating sits on top of the paint and makes it:

  • Easier to wash, because dirt and road film don’t cling as tightly
  • More resistant to bird droppings, bug splatter and tree sap, which are easier to remove when caught promptly
  • Glossier, with a deeper, cleaner look
  • Better protected against UV exposure and everyday environmental fallout

A coating is not a force field. It won’t stop rock chips, and it won’t make a car immune to scratches or neglect. You still need to wash it properly. What you get is a durable, easier-to-maintain finish.

Who It's For

Ceramic coating makes the most sense if:

  • You just bought a new or newer car and want to protect the paint from day one.
  • You plan to keep the car for years and want the finish to stay sharp.
  • You park outside, under oaks and pines, or at a busy office lot.
  • You’re tired of waxing and want something that lasts longer.
  • You have a dark-colored car that shows every swirl and water spot.

If your paint is already swirled, dull or scratched, the coating should go on over corrected paint. That’s why the process below starts with decontamination and polishing.

What's Included: The Process

Every System X coating we apply follows the same order. The prep is what makes the coating look right and bond properly.

Step 1: Decontamination

The paint is washed and decontaminated first. This removes the bonded grime, road film and embedded particles that a normal wash leaves behind. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so the surface has to be clean.

Step 2: Polishing

Next comes machine polishing. This refines the paint and removes swirls and light scratches so the coating seals in a smooth, glossy surface instead of sealing in flaws. If your paint needs more than light polishing, such as deeper correction or hard-water etching, we’ll talk it through and get a quote for the extra work before anything starts.

Step 3: Coating Application

Once the paint is prepared, the System X coating goes on in the term you picked: 2, 6 or 10 years. Each package has its own warranty terms, so ask about the specifics for the one you choose.

Ceramic Coating Packages and Pricing

These are the System X packages and their prices:

  • Crystal+ (2 year): $810
  • Pro+ (6 year): $1,250
  • Max G+ (10 year): $1,500, which includes a free Glass+ windshield coating
  • Max MF matte (10 year): $1,500, designed for matte finishes

The longer terms use more durable coating packages. If you’re not sure which one fits, tell us how long you plan to keep the car and what finish it has, and we’ll point you to the right one. If you have a matte finish, Max MF matte is the one to ask about.

October 2026 Fall Special

For October 2026, we’re running a Pre-Winter Protection special that includes a 2-year System X ceramic coating. It’s priced by vehicle size at $749, $799 or $899. Specials run for a limited time, so ask when you reach out and we’ll confirm it’s still available for your vehicle.

How a Mobile Appointment Works

Mobile means we come to you anywhere in our service area. For Charlotte, that includes South Charlotte neighborhoods such as Ballantyne, Myers Park and SouthPark. We also serve nearby towns like Waxhaw, Marvin, Weddington, Wesley Chapel, Mt. Holly, Indian Land and Fort Mill.

Here’s what to expect:

  • You reach out with your vehicle’s year, make and model, your location, and which package you’re interested in.
  • We confirm the details and schedule the appointment. New bookings require a deposit of 20% of the service price. It is non-refundable, but it always transfers if you need to reschedule, and it is deducted from your total.
  • We arrive at your home or office and set up in a spot that works for the job.
  • We prep, polish and coat the vehicle as described above.
  • We walk you through the results and aftercare before we wrap up.

What You Need to Provide

Mobile service works because you supply two things:

  • A water spigot
  • A power outlet

We use your water and power for the job, so please make sure both are accessible near where the car will be parked. A garage, driveway or shaded spot is ideal, but the key is an accessible spigot and outlet. If you’re booking for an office, check with your building or property manager first.

How Long It Takes

A full ceramic coating is not a quick wash-and-go. Decontamination, polishing and application are all careful, hands-on steps, and the coating needs to be applied under the right conditions. Timing depends on the vehicle’s size, the condition of the paint, and the package you choose. We’ll confirm the schedule with you when you book so you know how long to plan for and where the car will be.

Caring for Your Coating

A ceramic coating is easier to maintain, but it still needs good habits:

  • Hand wash with a quality pH-neutral car shampoo and clean microfiber mitts or towels.
  • Avoid automatic car washes with harsh brushes, which can scratch coated paint.
  • Rinse off bird droppings, sap and bug residue soon after you see them.
  • Follow the aftercare instructions we give you, especially during the first days after application while the coating cures.

If you want help keeping the car in shape afterward, we also offer recurring maintenance detailing plans. Ask about them when you book.
